CDC Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - CDC Dealing with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome CDC is the abbreviated form of Centers for Disease Control. It is an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services. The man focus of this agency is to prevent and control the spread of contagious diseases. It also spreads awareness and inturn educates people about those contagious diseases. Noticing the increasing rate of people being affected by the chronic fatigue syndrome, CDC has included this disorder in its awareness programs.
Definition
of CFS
According to CDC, a person is suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) when, he shows a symptom of severe fatigue for more than six months and this has resulted in 50% reduction of daily activity. CDC also discloses that people of every age group, gender and ethical group can be affected by chronic fatigue syndrome. CDC has carried a survey of people being affected by CFS and they found that women are four times more prone to this syndrome. Research also indicates that people between the age group of 40 to 50 years are often prone to this disease. This syndrome may also affect children, however, the chances of this are very low.
Symptoms of CFS
CDC has defined certain symptoms of CFS. According to them CFS is marked by extreme fatigue and tiredness. Along with this CDC have also defined certain characteristic CFS symptoms. They are as follows. A CFS victim may express certain post exertion symptoms and may suffer from muscle and joint pain. The person suffering from this disease may complain of unrefreshing sleep, headache and soar throat. This syndrome may also lead to tender neck or armpit lymph nodes.
Treatment of CFS
Since there is no permanent cure for chronic fatigue syndrome, doctors aim to sooth the symptoms of CFS. Hence, in order to combat chronic fatigue syndrome it is advisable to change your lifestyle. One should avoid overexertion and stress. It is also recommended to alter the diet of the individual. The patient may also be advised to undertake alternative therapy such as acupuncture, homeotherapy, aromatherapy and meditation. It is also said that yoga also helps in bringing positive changes amongst patients. The patients should not delay in getting diagnosis and also while diagnosis one should not hesitate to tell everything that he or she is suffering.
