Ceiling insulation

Insulation provides a thermal barrier to the walls of the house and this provides a protection from heat in the summer and makes the room cool in winter. Ceiling insulation the house in all climatic changes. This is to be installed in between conditioned and unconditioned areas in home.

Forms of insulation:

* Fiberglass batts.
* Fiberglass loose fill.

These are quite inexpensive and work around five to eight years.
Homeowner can install fiberglass batts and fiberglass loose fill is to be installed using an insulation-blowing machine. The R-value refers insulation levels. The feature of this is that it resists the transfer of heat. More is the R-value accordingly it reduces the heat loss or gain.

Attic insulation

The insulation that can be installed in the attic is by the determination of the joists. In most instances the density of R-40 is preferable. The higher insulation level used in the home will improve comfort. It does mean there is a simultaneous rise in the cost.

Need for ceiling insulation

1. Loose fill or batt type material to be covered.
2. Adhesive backed rubber weather stripping for attic doors.
3. To protect from lighting and vents loose filled insulation is to be used.
4. Portable extension cords, wooden planks, hammer and duck tape.

Insulate finished attic

In order to insulate the finished attic with floor and finished walls there is need to open access holes through holes. For insulation of different types of attic constructions it is finished rooms with knee wall and collar beams. Installing up to R-38 along the collar beams and at least R-11 in the knee walls.
In the sloped ceiling insulation is done around the rafters and attic ceiling. This is usually done by cutting holes in the ceiling and working in the cramped spaces.

To finish bats-type or loose filled insulation

Installation of R-30 insulation is required in the attic access door and vapor against the door. Staple the R-17 batt on the top of this to reach the required R-value. Cold air is to be prevented from escaping through the gaps around the attic access door into the heated house and rubber stripping around the access door. Then seal the insulating the operating ductwork in the attic work.
