Cerebral Palsy Cure: A Mixed Treatment Cerebral palsy is a neurological disorder, which affects posture, movement and coordination. The brain damage remains the foremost cause of Cerebral palsy. This damage is caused before, during or after the birth. The damaged part of the brain is called the cerebrum, which happens to be the largest part of the body. Unfortunately, Cerebral palsy has no cure. Cerebral palsy does not have a treatment because it is impossible to repair damage to the brain. The main aim of all the therapies is to help the affected child to control their muscular action and to prevent deformities from forming. In that way the life can be more meaningful to the child.
The cure of the cerebral palsy is different for every person according to the symptoms and the acuteness of cerebral palsy. Each patient is treated differently. A mixed therapy is used instead of only one therapy with the involvement of all concerned medical experts, parents and teachers.
Physical therapy must start as soon as possible to enhance muscle strength, flexibility and control. A specially designed regimen of exercises is given to the affected patient. These exercises should be adjusted according to the varying needs of the child.
Drug therapy is used to reduce and prevent seizures and spasticity. Cerebral palsy includes many disorders, which is why, a combination of drugs are used to reduce various symptoms. Anti -convalescents drugs are used for seizures and muscle relaxants are prescribed for spasticity.
Surgical treatment is also recommended as a last resort to reduce extreme contractures. In the surgical treatment, the affected muscles are cautiously identified. These muscles are lengthened surgically to handle contractures.
All these therapies are useful to reduce the various symptoms. Sometimes, braces are given to the patients to strap up joints and help with movements such as walking. If these therapies are used to an affected child, earlier after the diagnosis, he can live a dignified life without the assistance of anyone.
