Cerebral Palsy Scholarship - "Ray of Hope for Cerebral Palsy Patients"

Cerebral palsy scholarships are available for cerebral palsy patients to attend camps, schools, colleges and other programs. Finding cerebral palsy scholarships is as easy as contacting the camp your child would like to attend. Special needs camps are expensive but that should not be a deterrent when seeking for a quality special needs camp experience. Any local county mental health or family services office, religious organizations and local charities such as Easter Seals, United Way, YMCA/
YWCA, United Cerebral Palsy and Lions and Elks Clubs can be valuable sources of scholarships.

Scholarships Offered by the United Cerebral Palsy

Although there is no national organization for scholarships and the United Cerebral Palsy does not have a national scholarship fund, yet scholarships can be found through local affiliates of United Cerebral Palsy. They may offer local scholarship money or know of local resources that offer cerebral palsy scholarships. One such organization is United Cerebral Palsy of Metro Boston, Inc. The John J. Ingalls Memorial Scholarship administrated by United Cerebral Palsy of Metro Boston, Inc. awards $5,000 scholarships for college bound high school seniors and current undergraduate and graduate students diagnosed with a physical disability and residing in the State of Massachusetts.

Other Organizations offering Scholarships

For cerebral palsy scholarships, contact local civic organizations such as the Moose, Elks, Kiwanis and Rotary clubs. You can also contact church charities or the local Vocational Rehabilitation office that may have funding for education, training or related services. Also contact the office for students with disabilities at the universities or colleges where you are applying or are already accepted and contact the school's financial aid department. The U.S. Department of Education has information on government grants and loans for students with disabilities. Also search the internet for scholarships, private donations, web sites dealing with financial aid. You can also ask about scholarship money in disability related and electronic discussion groups in various websites.

It is not an embarrassment to ask for help because the benefits of a cerebral palsy scholarship can open new doors for the patient and help him/ her become self-dependent. It is therefore vital to contact local institutions near you for further information on cerebral palsy scholarships.
