Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Herbs - "Non-conventional treatment for chronic fatigue"

Herbs are useful for treating viral infections and immune suppression in chronic fatigue syndrome patients. Antiviral herbs combined with herbs that stimulate the immune system are helpful in the earlier phase. Useful herbs in this phase are Echinacea, goldenseal and licorice. During the chronic phase of chronic fatigue syndrome, useful herbs are goldenseal, astragalus, and licorice and Siberian ginseng. During the recovery phase of chronic fatigue syndrome, Asian ginseng and Siberian ginseng are especially
useful.

Types of herbs:

Assorted antiviral herbs - Anti-viral herbs relieve chronic fatigue in a high percentage of people when used in combinations of Echinacea, goldenseal, licorice, lemon balm and ginger. You can make a blend of equal amounts of these herbs or use varying amounts. You can make a tea using a teaspoon or two of your blend and have a cup twice or thrice a day because these herbal teas can be energizing.

Asian ginseng and Siberian ginseng - Ginseng improves athletic performance but it takes up to a month of regular use to notice its benefits. Ginseng also stimulates the immune system and increases general resistance to all types of stress. In addition it reduces fatigue and improves alertness, coordination, memory and stress-coping abilities. Asian ginseng is a root primarily imported from China and Korea and it won mythic renown for increasing longevity.

Mate - Mate can be used one to two teaspoons a day in tea for banishing mental and physical fatigue. Mate's energy-boosting activity comes from its caffeine content. However, it is not recommended taking mate daily to treat chronic fatigue.

Purslane and other foods containing magnesium - Magnesium is important to boost stamina and energy. Some of the foods containing more magnesium are purslane, string beans, spinach, cowpeas, lettuce, stinging nettle, poppy seeds, licorice root and coriander.

Spinach and other foods containing folate - Folate is the naturally occurring form of folic acid and its deficiency is quite common leading to need of folic acid supplement. Folate rich foods include spinach, pinto beans, asparagus, broccoli, okra and Brussels sprouts.

Wheatgrass and other grasses - Wheatgrass juice is often recommended for fatigue. Any juiced wholesome grass, including barley, oats, couch grass or wheat can be helpful for relief in chronic fatigue.

Herbal medicines act slowly. The time taken to completely resolve the situation can vary from as four to six weeks to twelve or eighteen months depending upon the duration of the illness and other accompanying health problems.
