High White Blood Cell Count - High WBC, a Grave Danger

White Blood Cells are a significant component of the human body. Without these cells functioning properly, the human body cannot remain fit and healthy. An imbalance in the count of these cells leads to a huge body disturbance and great disorders. A low or a high white blood cell count can result in tremendous grave health problems. Especially, a high white blood cell count can result in life-threatening consequences.

Effects of High WBC Count

White blood
cells are vital for developing the resistance power of the body. They constitute the key elements in the immune system in the human body. There are different kinds of white blood cells in the human body. The types include neutrophils (polymorphonuclear leucocytes), band cells (slightly immature neutrophils), T-type lymphocytes (T cells), B-type lymphocytes (B cells), monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils. A high white blood cell count has extremely serious consequences. A high white blood cell count causes problems like infection, acute leukemia to the point of becoming chronic and chronic bone marrow diseases like myeloproliferative disorder. A high count of white blood cells can also lead to mental disorders apart from the physical disorders. It can cause extreme emotional stress and also result in mental or psychological imbalance.

The most dangerous consequence of high white blood cell count is that of cancer. Individuals suffering from a problem of high white blood cells have a high probability of dying of cancer. People having a high white blood cell count especially die of lung cancer, as is observed by medical researches. Another very important finding is that people with a very high count of white blood cells can be relieved by the medicine aspirin. Aspirin is supposed to work positively for people who are suffering from cancer with a high count of white blood cells.

The other form of life-threatening disease due to a high WBC count is leukemia. In leukemia, the number of white blood cells in the blood as well as in the bone marrow increases to unprecedented levels. It is difficult to diagnose leukemia at the early stages and hence makes it all the more difficult to cure it.

Thus, an increase in the count of WBC can be a grave danger to an individual. It makes us understand the problems that a minute component like a cell can create in the human body.
