How to Hunt for Bargain FurnitureIf you are one of the thrifty ones that frequent yard sales, thrift shops, and other bargain stores around, you will not be a foreigner to the fact that you can save a whole bunch by purchasing furniture at these shops instead of buying them brand-new.
Here are some tips on how to purchase great furniture at lower prices.
1. Brand New Discounted these are furnitures that are usually given at lower prices as part of a promotion or discount sale. Most large department stores carry such
sales. However these types of sales come seasonally, and you will have to wait for clearance sales and such.
Brand new discounted items are typically in good shape, although you will have to double check these items to see if they are damaged or if they are in top shape. But for the most part, these items will be in pretty much good shape. You will probably be able to save anywhere from 10 to 40 percent off the tag price of brand new furniture.
2. Brand-New Damaged Some stores will have damage sales or even fire sales. These occur when their wares have been damage either by factory defect, or shipping problems.
In the case of fire sales, some items have been exposed to water as a result of fire fighting measures done on a burning building. Needless to say, this kind of sale does not happen very often.
Discounts on sales of this sort are pretty high, ranging from 20 to 80 percent depending on the severity of the furnitures damage. But then again, who would want such damaged goods? Well, for one, not of these goods are terribly damaged. Some items of still great quality will be displayed amount really badly damaged ones. So you must do a little digging to find a good piece of furniture among the damaged ones.
Some of the items here are barely damaged and can be easily salvaged at a very low price.
3. Second-Hand Thrift Shop other furniture items can be purchased from flea markets, thrift shops, garage sales and other such shops. Make sure you check out local ads and listings for information on these sales. These places are a great place to snag low-priced items that are either slightly used or really old. The trick here is that you will still have to look at the quality of the items to see if the furniture in question is still usable.
But generally, this is a pretty good place to pick up passable furniture; you could get really good price for formerly pricey items. Discounts are at 10 to 90 percent although you will have to look really hard for good items.
