Natural Remedy for Carpal Tunnel SyndromeCarpal tunnel syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is believed to be a repetitive motion injury. It is a cumulative trauma associated with the constant rapid use of our fingers. Carpal tunnel syndrome has been there around for many a decade now. It has been the occupational hazard of bookkeepers and supermarket checkout clerks who punched buttons all the day long. But it did not become just a household word until the 1980s, when the personal
computers came in to the world to dominate so many workplaces. At an instant millions of people's jobs required the kind of steady, rapid finger movements that can cause repetitive motion injuries like that of carpal tunnel syndrome. It is a common problem among the musicians, factory workers and other people who must use their hands constantly.
Natural Remedies
There are many herbs that provide with the best natural remedy for the carpal tunnel syndrome. Willow bark is one of them. It is the original source of aspirin that contains chemicals that relieve the pain as well as helps to lessen the inflammation. One must always try other herbs that are rich in salicylates, notably meadowsweet and wintergreen. With any of these herbs, there should be one to two teaspoons of dried, powdered bark or five teaspoons of fresh bark for ten minutes or so, then strain out the plant material. One can also add lemonade to mask the bitter taste and drink two to three cups of tea a day. One should remember, though, that if you're allergic to aspirin, you probably shouldn't take aspirin-like herbs, either.
Home Treatments
Red pepper is also one of the famous remedy. It is also known as cayenne. Red pepper contains six pain-relieving compounds and seven compounds that are anti-inflammatory. Commercial salves containing capsaicin, like that of Zostrix and Capzasin-P, are widely used to treat pain. Again turmeric contains curcumin, a potent anti-inflammatory chemical. Some studies suggest that the curcumin is only about half as effective as the pharmaceutical anti-inflammatory medication cortisone, but one should always consider that cortisone is expensive and can have nasty side effects. Turmeric is much easier on the system and the pocketbook, not to mention a lot tastier.
