Severe cerebral palsy: A Severe Disordercommon term used for various disorders. It is a neurological disease, which impairs control of movement. Cerebral palsy appears in the first few years of life and generally do not worsen over time. Cerebral palsy is caused by the faulty development or damage to motor areas in the brain disrupts the brain's capability to effectively control movement and posture. according to the severity of this disease. The person with mild cerebral palsy can live about a normal life, but if the cerebral palsy is severe than the person has to take a lifelong assistance of someone in even his daily works. Medical disorder associate with severe cerebral palsy: If cerebral palsy is severe, then it may lead to some other medical disorders. Cerebral palsy involves the brain and impairs its motor function. It can also cause seizures and impair an individual's intellectual development. Affected person is less attentive to the outside world. Cerebral palsy can also impair activity and behavior, vision and hearing. Most of the children suffering from severe cerebral palsy are intellectually impaired and have seizures. Cerebral palsy many a times leads to poor control of the muscles of the throat, mouth and tongue which sometimes leads to drooling. Drooling can cause severe skin irritation which leads to further isolation because it is socially unacceptable. There may be some other medical disorders related to cerebral palsy. The cerebral palsy does not get worsen over the time. However, the child with severe cerebral palsy might not be able to walk and need extensive, lifelong care. There is no cure available against the cerebral palsy. The treatment of the child should start as early as possible to avoid more disabilities. The child with severe cerebral palsy needs an individualized treatment plan to help him reach his or her optimum potential. A number of treatments are given to the affected children including physical, occupational and other therapies. Drug treatments, surgery, and mechanical aids have also proved useful.
