They are called as the antibodies that actually form a human immune system. Commonly known as Leukocytes or white cells or white corpuscle, the white blood cells are a group of several cell types that occur in bloodstream and are essential for proper functioning of the immune system. Some of these white blood cells act as scavengers by engulfing foreign particles and destroying. Others produce antibodies or destroy dead cells. These blood cells are normally produced in the bone
marrow.

Low WBC count

Many diseases and disorders can be caused as result of the low WBC count. Some of the reasons for having a less blood count are given below. The main reason of less WBC count could be the failure of bone marrow that can be caused due to infection, tumor, fibrosis or any such disease or disorder. There could be a low blood count because of presence of cytotoxic substance. WBC count could also be affected because of collagen-vascular diseases, diseases of liver or spleen and also due to radiation and chemotherapy.

Symptoms of low White Blood Cell count

A low white blood cell count could be due to many reasons as mentioned in the above paragraph. If you get an infection at a time when your blood cell count, it is essential that you contact your doctor immediately. If you have the symptoms that suggest that you might be developing an infection such as a sore throat, fever, pain passing urine, cough or breathlessness and swelling, then there is for sure a less count of white blood cells.
Platelets help to clot the blood to prevent bleeding. If the number of platelets (WBC's) in your blood is low, you may bruise easily. There could be more bleeding than usual, even from small cuts or grazes and also have nosebleeds.
Chemotherapy or radiation could kill the White Blood Cells. The body breaks down the dead cells. The chemicals that the cells are made of are suddenly released in the blood. Your blood is removed from the body by the kidneys and so frequent urination is also observed. The rhythm and kidneys are also affected.

So tell your doctor immediately a fever or notice any bleeding or bruising. Be as clean as you can and wash your hands before preparing food for instance. Put pressure on the cuts and rest when you feel tired. These are the best measures that you can take care of for avoiding the reduction in your White Blood Cell count.
